This years Fling was held on Remembrance Day, and despite the call for 2 mins silence at 11am, most on the course were puffing hard and pushing their bikes through the "Outer Limits" of Wingello SF. The course for the 112km Highland Fling this year was slightly different to previous years with some new sections on the Wingello stage. Also some nasty surprises on the final 20 km of the GU stage through the "Roller Coaster" and the "Bakers Delight" sections. I made reasonably good time on the Specialized stage although could have managed a faster time. I was slower on the Wingello SF stage as the single track sections kicked in. The last 20kms proved testing and I was pleased to have a bit left in the tank. Averaged about 17kph and finished the course in 6hrs 16mins which I was pleased with given the difficult sections introduced this year. I placed 20th in a field of 65 in my age group. Kathren joined the "Casual Fling" (17km) on Sunday morning.
