This morning I woke with a headache, blocked sinus and chest
congestion so decided to give the bike a miss and ride in the lunch truck. I
think the effort yesterday on Col de Burdincurutcheta was enough to refresh my
cold. I felt fine through the day but maybe the chill wind on the descent was
what brought back the cough.
The two cols of the day were the Col de Soudet and the Col de Marie Blanque. Both over 1000m and over 12% grade in parts. There are a lot of hydro stations in the area and the valleys are very steep and narrow. The weather was warm and sunny and the temperature at the campsite this evening is in the low 30's. It was a beautiful trip along these narrow roads.
We saw Alberto Contador on Col de Soudet this morning. He was riding up the side our group was descending, so no-one had a chance to ride up and overtake him :-))
Tomorrow the Col d'Aubisque in the morning and Col de Borderes in the afternoon. Garmin link here (recorded in truck) 100 Cols Stage 12
