100 Cols Day 13 Larrun to Luz St. Sauveur 66km 1800m climbing

I was feeling a bit chirpier this morning. It promised to be a spectacular ride in the Pyrenees with the climb of the famous Col d'Aubisque to start the day. Unfortunately the weather didn't co-operate as sometimes happens in the mountains. The clouds prevented any views from the road on the ascent to the col, however on the opposite side of the mountain there was enough clear weather to get a great view of the valleys below.
The Aubisque at 1700m was the highest climb of the day followed by Col de Soulor and Col de Borderes. With only 66km to ride it was possible to get in early to the campsite at the village of Luz St. Sauveur. Great for those who have washing to do or just want to head off to the nearest bar for a coldie! This town is at the base of the road to the Tourmalet which we climb tomorrow. The popular ski resort of Luz Ardiden is not far from here.
Anneke and Jaap prepared a very tasty meal tonight in their magical camp kitchen. A savoury salad starter followed by duck (breast) a l'orange with tasty cointreau sauce.
The climbs tomorrow are pretty tough so looking forward to a good nights rest. Garmin link here
